I joined the full time time faculty at Tulane Medical Center in February 1979.  Since that early beginning the Vitreo-Retinal Section has grown exceptionally well.  During the past few years we were privileged to have the former Director of Vitreo-Retinal Services at LSU together with his associate Professor Mandi Conway join our group. A resume of the Department and its members is available by clicking the heading of this section above.  Dr. Gholam Peyman, as you can see from the departmental webpage, has been a major contributor to ophthalmology with his numerous research endeavors. Tulane is also excited in the addition of Dr. Douglas B. Babel who completed his optometric training before pursuing a career in Medicine and finally Ophthalmology with specialty in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery.  Our program has graduated now over 40 fellows from around the world.  It is our fervent hope to be able to continue to offer our local population as well as those outside our region with the most up-to-date care and research in Vitreo-Retinal Disease.  I plan to continue my Professor position as long as they will have me.
